High flexibility through universal use of the silo machines

The development and manufacture of tanks and the distribution of patents and licenses represent the main business of Lipp & Mayer Technologie Ltd.. Our silo machines are characterized by their universal application: black plate as well as stainless steel of different qualities can be used for the production of the tanks. Metal sheet thicknesses from 2 mm to 8 mm can be processed, for tanks of different diameters and heights. The tanks allow a storage volume of up to 12,000 m³. Depending on the storage medium, different joining technologies can be used (see welding or double fold below). By using different forming rolls, each of our machines can be used for a welded joint as well as for a double fold joint.

In the countries (EP member states, USA, Canada and Russia) an exclusive license for the use of patents of the welding technology has already been granted, which is why for these territories neither further licensing, nor the supply or distribution of patent-compliant products is currently possible.

Efficient and resource-saving tank production

Our silo machines are developed for universal use and allow a material-saving and cost-effective production of tanks. The steel sheet, which is inserted in the form of a coil with the required material thickness from 2 mm to 8 mm, can be processed directly on site without any pretreatment. Both sheet widths of 500 mm or 750 mm can be processed.

Driving unit SM-S A

The Driving unit SM-S A is the main driving force in the tank production and is integrated into the assembly ring of the tank. The machine can be individually adjusted to the required tank diameter and sheet thickness, guaranteeing consistently high quality. The universal use of the machine enables the production of different joining technologies (e.g. ‚welding-bath‘ technology, ‚Through-welding‘ process, ‚Shouldered‘ welding), which can be used for tank production. The welded joint is produced by an external welding device, which is positioned in the welding box of the Driving unit.

Forming unit SM-S F

The forming unit SM-S F is a universal machine for processing and forming of sheet metal strips.

By using different forming rolls, different joining technologies ( ‘Welding bath’ technology, ‘Through-welding’ process or ‘Shouldered’ welding) can be applied in the next step using the Drive unit.

Supporting unit for the assembly – models in 2t and 5t

The support units stand in a ringshaped arrangement around the tank and support it at the edges of the tank wall. Depending on the size and weight of the tank, supports with a load bearing capacity of 2t or 5t can be used. The support roller of the supports can be adjusted horizontally and vertically by means of adjusting screws, thus ensuring high stability and safety during the installation of the tank.

Tank coverings – large-scale from 0.6 mm to 3.0 mm material thickness

Lipp & Mayer Technology Ltd. offers a unique process for the production of membranes used in tank construction. In a patented process, the membranes consist of steel sheets are welded together to form a flat plate (membrane). This highly innovative technology is used for the production of tank roofs and tank floors or other steel coverings. From know-how to finished machines for the production of membranes, we offer you individual solutions according to your needs.

Thanks to the use of the membrane as a tank roof and tank floor, solid, liquid or gaseous media of various types can be stored safely. In addition, our membranes convince in terms of mechanical strength, tightness, as well as resistance to corrosion and aging.

The use of a material thickness of at least 0.6 mm ensures high material savings and has all the advantages of an efficient lightweight construction. In addition, our new patented process allows the production of tank floors with a material thickness of up to 3.0 mm.

Pull-Forming – Driving unit, forming unit and welding combined in one machine

With the Pull-Form-Unit, Lipp & Mayer offers a unique technology for the production of thin-walled (stainless steel) tanks. The Pull-Form unit combines the functions of the SMS-A and SMS-F  silo machines in one machine. This makes it possible to produce tanks of different sizes and diameters with minimum assembly effort. The drawing unit is particularly suitable for thin-walled containers with a wall thickness of 2 mm to 3 mm.

In addition to black steel, stainless steel can also be used which offers enormous cost and material savings. From the know-how to the finished plant for the production of thin-walled tanks, we offer you individual solutions according to your needs.

Double-Fold – proven all over the world for more than 50 years

Our silo machines (SM-S A, SM-S F) can be used for both welded tanks and tanks with a double fold. Steel coils with a material thickness of up to 6 mm can be used for the double fold. This means that tanks with a diameter of up to 50 m or tank volumes of up to 10,000 m³ can be produced in an infinitely variable manner.

The Double-Fold technique, which was invented and developed by Mr. Xaver Lipp more than 50 years ago and is now used worldwide in container construction, has proven its worth for storing solid or liquid substances. The Double-Fold is based on a unique and at the same time simple principle of container production:

Steel strips are insert from the coil into the forming machine and at the same time are formed twice at their edges. In the next step, the sheet metal strips are connected with a Double-Fold with maximum tightness and can be turned upwards endlessly (see right Figure). Thanks to the Double-Fold, the containers are resistant to the effects of the weather and are superior to conventional silos in terms of stability, tightness and durability.
